Predators and Bridgestone Arena pledge support for a Smokefree Nashville
As season begins, Smashville Safe plan to include a smokefree property
Nashville, TN (Jan 22nd, 2021) — The newly formed coalition, Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville, has received yet another major endorsement, this time coming from the Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena.
While there remains uncertainty surrounding the timeline to host fans, the stadium and team have announced new “Smashville Safe” policies that strictly adhere to current health and safety guidelines. One piece of these new policies includes Bridgestone Arena becoming an entirely smokefree and vapefree property.
“For the safety and health of all guests, athletes, performers and staff, Bridgestone Arena and the Nashville Predators are proud to join Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville.” Says David Kells, the team and arena’s Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Marketing.
The news follows the coalition’s recent endorsement by the Titans and Nissan Stadium this past fall. As Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville gains momentum and prepares to embark on a statewide campaign in the months ahead, they hope this is a sign of more positive change to come.
“We are truly honored to have the support of the Preds and Bridgestone Arena," says Jamie Kent, founder of Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville. “They are institutions of the Nashville sports and entertainment industry, and we hope their endorsement continues to bring more members of the Tennessee entertainment and business community on board. We can’t wait to get back to work, and we want to do it in the healthiest way possible.”
Nashville health officials agree. “The Smashville Safe plan is a great start and I appreciate all the hard work from many who are dedicated to the mission.” Says Dr. Alex Jahangir, Chair of the Metro Board of Health. “We need to continue this momentum to ensure our family, friends, neighbors and visitors can enjoy a smokefree and healthy Nashville.”
Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville welcomes artists, venues, businesses, and organizations within the Tennessee community to sign their smokefree pledge. For more information, visit: www.smokefreenashville.com
